The Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) - Philippines was established in 2017. Proudly hosted at the University of the Philippines Manila (UP Manila), our collaborative efforts include partnerships with esteemed institutions such as the Department of Health (DOH), the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), as well as other prominent health and innovation organizations across the country.

Our overarching vision is to emerge as the premier institutional partner dedicated to transforming the healthcare system through the power of social innovation in health in the Philippines. To achieve this vision, we actively champion social innovation in health, engaging with diverse stakeholders through impactful research, capacity-building initiatives, and meaningful influence within the healthcare landscape.

Make a Difference (MAD) Foundation has been at the forefront of empowering communities and advancing health innovation. We actively champion social entrepreneurship, youth development, and health advocacy. By fostering a culture of creativity and social impact, we aim to continuously empower changemakers to address pressing health challenges in the Philippines.

At the heart of the Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF) is a story of commitment, compassion and community. We are dedicated to empowering local health systems through leadership and governance training. Our Health Change Model empowers local leaders to implement transformative reforms that address the unique needs of the marginalized, fostering a brighter, healthier future for all. Through collaborative efforts and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by local health systems, we have successfully cultivated a network of empowered healthcare professionals, resilient communities, and transformative leaders.

The Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) is responsible for coordinating and monitoring health research activities initiated by the public sector in the Philippines. PCHRD aspires to be a leading provider of research-based solutions and innovations to address the needs of the Philippine health system and acts as a national coordinating body for health research and provides central direction, leadership and coordination of health research activities. It employs cross-cutting approaches by supporting the health system through informing public policy, supporting health research through resources and capacity strengthening, and development and dissemination of innovations and knowledge aimed at creating high-quality, affordable, and accessible solutions to health problems. It has consistently supported health research and social innovation and nurturing local talent. Through strategic partnerships and knowledge exchange, PCHRD has empowered individuals and researchers to drive positive change and a shared vision of health challenges being met with innovative solutions.
